Privacy policy
This policy covers the Kwota Golf mobile and web app and this website. It says what we collect, why, and what we do not do. If something here is unclear, email hello@kwotagolf.com and ask.
What we collect
When you create an account
Your name, email address and phone number. The phone number is required because it is how we match you to your existing spot on a course roster — the game you already play in has a list of names, and matching by phone is how you claim yours without an admin guessing between two Mikes. If you sign in with Google we receive your name and email from Google, and ask you for a phone number separately.
When you play
Your scores, your handicap and its history, which courses you belong to, which rounds you signed up for, and what you won. This is the product — it is the record the app exists to keep.
From this website
If you join the waitlist we store your email address. If you send a course inquiry we store the course name, its city, and your name, email and phone. That is all. This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies and runs no third-party analytics.
Technical data
Our hosting providers keep standard server logs — IP address, browser, timestamps — for security and debugging. If you turn on notifications we store a push token for your device so we can send them.
Who can see your information
Kwota is built around courses, and the people at your course see what you would expect them to see at the course itself:
Other members of a course you belong to can see your name, your handicap, your scores in that course’s rounds and what those rounds paid. A posted result is public to the field, the same way a printed sheet on the wall is.
Your course admin can additionally see your email and phone, so they can reach you and can approve you onto the roster.
People at a course you do not belong to see nothing of yours. Each course is separate — your record at one is not visible at another.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising. We use a small number of service providers to run the app, and they only process what they need to:
Supabase — the database, sign-in, and file storage.
Vercel — hosting for this website.
Apple and Google — app distribution, and delivering push notifications to your device.
We will also disclose information if the law requires it. If Kwota is ever acquired, your information would move with it, and we would tell you before that happened.
Payments
Kwota takes no payments and handles no money. Entry fees and winnings are settled by your course, outside the app, exactly as they were before. We never see or store card or bank details.
How long we keep it
Your account and playing record are kept while your account exists — a season record is only useful because it is complete. Waitlist and inquiry submissions are kept until we have finished acting on them. Delete your account and we remove your personal details; scores already frozen into a posted result stay in that result, because it is a record of what the whole field won that day and cannot be rewritten for one player.
Your choices
Get a copy of your data, or have it corrected or deleted — email us.
Turn push notifications off in your device settings at any time.
Leave the waitlist by replying to any email from us, or emailing us directly.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights over your personal data (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA). We honour those requests regardless of where you are — write to us at hello@kwotagolf.com.
Children
Kwota is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. A junior playing in a course game should be signed up by a parent or the course admin under an adult’s account.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access to it is restricted per course at the database level rather than only in the app. No system is perfect; if we ever have a breach affecting your information, we will tell you.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and for anything significant we will tell you in the app or by email.
